For Immediate Release – Montreal – August 24, 2016
McGill-Queen’s University Press is pleased to announce that it will assume worldwide responsibility for sales, marketing, and distribution of CIGI Press, the book publishing arm of the Centre for International Governance Innovation based in Waterloo, Ontario. This change is effective immediately. CIGI Press previously handled its own distribution.
CIGI Press’s lead title for the fall 2016 season is Look Who’s Watching: Surveillance, Treachery, and Trust Online by Fen Osler Hampson and Eric Jardine. The confidence that people have in the internet ecosystem is rapidly eroding due to Edward Snowden’s revelations that the United States National Security Agency and other government agencies are spying on Internet users, the proliferation of cybercrime, the growing commodification of user data, and regulatory changes. Look Who’s Watching clearly demonstrates why trust matters, how it is being eroded and how, with care and deliberate policy action, the essential glue of the internet can be restored.
