Bill Brownstein, co-author of John Dunning’s memoir, You’re Not Dead until You’re Forgotten, was a guest on CBC Montreal’s All in a Weekend this past weekend.
Listen to his interview with Sonali Karnick where he discusses John Dunning’s life and career, his favourite Dunning film Princes in Exile, and how the two began working on the memoir.
In You’re Not Dead until You’re Forgotten, John Dunning, in forthright and charming fashion, recounts his rough-and-tumble upbringing in the Montreal suburb of Verdun in the 1930s, his modest start in the film industry behind the candy counter of his family’s movie theatre, and later, his ventures into film distribution and production.
Illustrated with personal photos and film stills, this memoir finally gives this pioneer Canadian filmmaker his long-overdue spotlight.
