This April marks the 100th anniversary of Ireland’s Easter Rising. The Rising, which took place in Dublin over six days in April 1916, was an attempt by Irish republicans to end British rule in Ireland by force. The rebellion collapsed, and its leaders were executed, but the events of Easter Week would lead ultimately to the establishment of the Irish Free State, later the Republic of Ireland.
