It’s official! From the University of Chicago Press Release:
The University of Chicago Press and the Chicago Distribution Center (CDC) are pleased to announce McGill-Queen’s University Press as a new CDC distribution client. Effective September 1, 2015, McGill-Queen’s University Press books will be distributed by the Chicago Distribution Center.
Philip Cercone, executive director of McGill-Queen’s University Press (MQUP), commented: “We were looking for a state of the art distributor in the US for our expanding publishing program, and I’m delighted to say that we found the Chicago Distribution Center to be the perfect match for MQUP. We are very impressed with the excellent services the CDC provides to its clients, and they have a very professional and dedicated staff to look after our needs.”
McGill-Queen’s University Press is a not-for-profit corporation owned jointly by McGill and Queen’s universities. It is a highly respected international publisher of scholarly work and serious non-fiction, publishing more than 130 titles each year. It has over four thousand books on its list, of which, virtually all are available in print and digital formats. It has established itself as a leader in publishing books of quality that inform and enlighten both the scholarly community and the general public. The Press’s strong reputation as an innovative house, publishing books that are well edited and marketed as well as beautifully designed and produced, enables it to attract both first-time and established international authors. MQUP is a strong scholarly press, the strongest in Canada and by comparison with presses of its size in the US, one of the strongest in North America. It owes its status to the quality of its publications, the breadth of its list, its long publishing history, and the balance between books that advance scholarship and create debates.
Don Linn, CDC director commented, “We’re very happy to be welcoming Philip Cercone and his excellent team into the CDC family of publishers. McGill-Queen’s produces outstanding books with a unique perspective and will make a terrific addition to our offerings.”
Garrett Kiely, director of the University of Chicago Press, further said, “We are honored and very pleased to partner with McGill-Queen’s University Press. As a Canadian university press with a global reach, McGill-Queen’s University Press is a perfect fit for the Chicago Distribution Center and we look forward to helping them grow their business.”
Together, these presses complement the Chicago Distribution Center’s distinctive and diverse list of over one hundred client publishers.
