In commemoration of Margaret Laurence, Catharine Parr Traill, Susanna Moodie and the community’s ongoing literary heritage, the 23rd Lakefield Literary Festival showcases Canadian authors and promotes the joy of reading and writing among children and adults.
The three-day festival runs July 14 – 16, 2017 and will consist of four Reading Events, three Craft Talks, a Supper & Reception with Festival Authors as well as free activities.

Following the Young Writers Awards, a series of readings by author Lindy Mechefske and editors Nathalie Cooke and Fiona Lucas will be given on the culinary life and times of Sir John A. Macdonald & Catharine Parr Traill, respectively. Nathalie Cooke and Fiona Lucas are editors of the recent MQUP release, Catharine Parr Traill's A Female Emigrant's Guide: Cooking with a Canadian Classic.
