As part of Cirkaskina - the national social circus gathering, this scientific symposium will bring together researchers from various disciplines. The symposium will be followed by the main public event of Cirkaskina at 5:30pm where 150 youth will be on stage of La TOHU; to reserve tickets for the main event, click here. The event is sponsored by Université de Montréal, Concordia University, and Cirque Hors Piste.
Louis Patrick Leroux, co-author of Cirque Global: Quebec's Expanding Circus Boundaries, and Jennifer Beth Spiegel, co-author of The Art of Collectivity: Social Circus and the Cultural Politics of a Post-Neoliberal Vision, will both speak at the symposium.
Louis Patrick Leroux is associate professor of English and French studies at Concordia University and director of the Montreal Working Group of Circus Research.
Jennifer Beth Spiegel is a research fellow in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University and teaches in the Theatre Department at Concordia University.
