Each year on the first Sunday in October Colborne Lodge welcomes the community to beautiful, historic High Park in Toronto for Harvest Festival. As part of this year's Festival, A Canadian Climate of Mind: Passages from Fur to Energy and Beyond author Timothy Leduc will offer teachings on the history and future of relations between Indigenous and settlers along the passage de taronto (Humber River).
Haudenosaunee ceremony of Thanksgiving… recognizes that "we need each other" and owe thanks to the Earth, the "grasses, waters, trees, plants, winds, the moon, the stars, the sun, the universe, the whole thing." Acting with thankfulness and reverence is vital to recognizing that our "intelligence is the property of the universe"
- Timothy B. Leduc A Canadian Climate of Mind with citations from John Mohawk, Thinking in Indian and William Wordworth, Morning Star
Admission is free to the talk, and people are invited to stay and enjoy an afternoon of music, dance, local food and artisan vendors. For a full list of Harvest Festival activites and for additional information, please visit the Colburn Lodge website.
