The
Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre has launched a new
teaching website, Enemy
Aliens: The Internment of Jewish Refugees in Canada, 1940 – 1943. Part of the Virtual Museum of Canada, the website has been
developed to enrich and extend the reach of the “Enemy Aliens” exhibit
created by and on view at the VHEC through June 2013.
The exhibit uses Blatant Injustice: The Story of a Jewish Refugee from Nazi Germany Imprisoned in Britain and Canada during World War II by Dr. Walter W. Igersheimer as a primary source.
Funded by the
Canadian Heritage Information Network and produced in partnership with 7th
Floor Media at Simon Fraser University, the “Enemy
Aliens” website explores a little-known chapter of Canadian history
through artefacts and eyewitness testimony.
