Congratulations to Mary Anne Poutanen for winning the Prix Lionel-Groulx 2016 for her book Beyond Brutal Passions: Prostitution in Early Nineteenth-Century Montreal. Awarded by the Institut d’histoire de l’Amérique française, the prize recognizes the best scholarly book on the history of French America. Mary Anne joins MQUP author Brian Young, whose book Patrician Families and the Making of Quebec won the Prix Lionel-Groulx in 2015.
