We are very pleased to announce that Robert C.H. Sweeny, author of Why Did We Choose to Industrialize?: Montreal, 1819-1849 has won the 2016 Sir John A. Macdonald prize!
The prize, which is awarded annually by the Canadian Historical Association, goes to the best scholarly book in Canadian history (non-fiction) which is judged to have made the most significant contribution to an understanding of the Canadian past.
It was a big year for MQUP, with three titles being nominated for the award. Congratulations to Robert C.H. Sweeny on his win, and congratulations as well to both Caroline Durand (Nourrir la machine) and Douglas McCalla (Consumers in the Bush) on being named finalists!
