Rights and Pojects Administrator
This role is based in our Montreal office.
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining procedures for the administration and archiving of all publishing agreements, supervising all permission requests and approving all licenses, and overseeing the work of one permissions assistant. The Administrator attends international rights fairs and conferences for the purpose of selling rights and sets up appointments for the Executive Director at rights fairs. S/he also liaises and negotiates with foreign publishers throughout the year to sell co-publications and translation right and is responsible for all aspects of the purchase of foreign rights by the Press, including print and electronic co-publication formats, reprints, and translations; coordinates with internal staff to administer and execute the entire process of both sold and purchased co-publications.
Project administration responsibilities include overseeing special publishing projects undertaken by the Press with third parties and from conception to publication, including contract negotiation, and coordinating with other press departments for peer-review, copyediting, typesetting, design, production, and marketing and sales; and, project administration for rights and/or production related initiatives, including but not limited to digital and multimedia production, open access, and/or accessibility standards implementation and certification.
